Do you ever go through phases where either life becomes too hectic, funds become tight, or you just plain become uninspired by home projects. I think for me I've had a combination of all of those and haven't really been feeling very inspired lately.
I also had a day where I walked into my kitchen and wanted to start all over on my cabinets - I hated them! Strange right? I mean they don't look too shabby but sometimes I look at them and see all of my little mistakes and just think they look plain cheap.
With that said, I think the eventual plan will be to replace the cabinets altogether (after all this is our forever home), which means that I won't be putting in new countertops until after that point. But there's no reason why I can't finish my budget kitchen remodel. After all, a project like that will take some time to save up for.
So, since I'm not going to replace my countertops in the next couple of months, I've been looking for temporary solutions for our countertops. I found this gorgeous solution in a magazine a couple of days ago and I'm really excited about the prospect.
Chalkboard paint countertops. Don't judge until you take a look at this.

Absolutely gorgeous matte black finish. Plus, I've read online that if you finish with a paste wax it's really durable. I'll let you know how that turns out in the next couple of weeks. I've got some materials on order from Amazon. I'll leave you with that for now and I brew up some more ideas for exciting changes this Winter.
